Services

We’re an engineering and design consultancy, based in Madison, Wisconsin, offering product development solutions for clients in various industries.

We work on projects big and small. It can be as complicated as optical instrumentation or as simple as a household item.

Strategy

An effective plan tailored to your needs is important whether you’re a longtime partner or a one time client. Let us share with you our expertise and you can tell us about your aspirations, experience, and where you may need help.

Project Management

Oftentimes, design decisions made early on in the product development cycle can cast the largest shadow. Meaning, that they are irreversible and can have consequential impacts as you move closer to production. Upfront research combined with a strategic plan can help ensure we’re meeting our goals throughout the project so there are no surprises later on.

Mechanical Design

Here lies our expertise and the most fun part of product development. Building and testing ideas and turning them into reality. During this phase, we set out to answer simple questions using models of increasing fidelity - Is the idea feasible? What should it look like? How do we build it? What do customers think?

Production

Your documentation needs may vary during the production phase depending on your expected production volume, your selected vendors, and the complexity of your final design, however, we are here to assist you through ramp-up, pilot testing, and full-scale production.

Post-Market Support

The heavy lifting isn’t over yet. You’ll need to support your marketing and sales team with the right technical information and infographics. Your listings may require visual renderings of your product set in ideal environments to catch potential customer’s interest.

 FAQs

There is no such thing as a silly question so don’t let one of those stop you from reaching out!

  • Iterative design is a philosophy for problem solving that allows for experimentation and learning. Certain products can be designed solely just using traditional requirements while other times there is more nuance to how things can or should work. So although this isn't a must do in all product development endeavors, the advantage of iterative processes is that it allows you to collect feedback from engineers and customers and incorporate those learnings into the final design - ultimately making it better. If and how this process is carried out will depend greatly on your needs.

  • Mechanical design is the process of developing physical parts, components, products, or systems with an end goal of creating safe machinery that meets user needs and performs as expected. A well defined process can include the following stages: definition of problem, measure or research of problem, analysis of problem, design a solution, verify the solution, and report on findings.

  • Industrial design is the practice of developing products, devices, and objects, and services used by end-users or customers. With a focus on appearance, functionality from a user experience perspective, and manufacturability of a product, industrial designers are involved throughout the product development cycle.

  • This depends on your needs. We mainly specialize in designing and manufacturing physical products and hard goods. If you are looking to build a service or digital product, we are not for you. If you require additional hardware and software in your product, we do not have the personnel to support those specific needs and we would need to partner with someone who specializes in those areas.

  • After the project is completely paid for, the client retains all rights to any technical information that was created throughout the design process.

  • We can operate on an hourly or fixed project fee system. This will depend on your companies needs and the complexity of the project we are hired to do. We also offer retainer based pay for recurring clients and projects.

  • No, we currently focus on mechanical solutions (industrial design, mechanical design, & manufacturing). It is possible that your product only requires these specialties or just a single one. However, if you require hardware/electronics or software development, you will need to find an additional partner to collaborate with.
